The FDOT GIS Railroad Crossing feature class provides spatial information on existing railroad crossing at grade level. The database only consists of railroads that cross with the roadways that are maintained in FDOT's RCI (Roadway Characteristic Inventory).

This dataset was created using ESRI event mapping. The route system is the Transportation Data and Analytics' linear referencing system (LRS). Process Date: 20191005 The data set was taken from the Florida Department of Transportation Statistics Office from the following webpage: http://www.dot.state.fl.us/planning/statistics/gis The data set was originally downloaded in OCTOBER 2019 as the RCI basemap. Specific instructions, created by URS Corporation and the GeoPlan Center, were carried out. The data set is then to be updated on a regular basis. The data was originally in UTM Zone 17, Nad83, units meters. The data was projected to Albers HPGN. -Download the most recent Statewide Personal GeoDataBase -Export from feature class "railcross" to shapefile -Project the shape file to the standard FGDL projection. -Add Descript item based on [CROSSING_N] & [CHECK_DIGI] Process Date: 20191007 -RCI_RAIL_XING buffered by 100 feet -Dissolved -Added DESCRIPT field and calculated record to "RCI_RAIL_XING" -Added FGDLAQDATE based on when source data downloaded from source Process Date: 20191007 Dataset copied.
