GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This dataset consists of information and locations relating to all privately and publicly owned potable wells investigated as part of the State Underground Petroleum Environmental Response Act (SUPER Act) program. Environmental Engineering staff identify all private water wells within mile, and all public drinking water wells within mile of potential petroleum contamination sources. The data contains information about the owners, addresses and geographic coordinates of the wells. This is an update to the superact_well_apr11 layer.

This data is provided 'as is' by GeoPlan and is complete to our
knowledge.
GeoPlan relied on the integrity of the attribute information within
the original data.
In 1986, the Florida Legislature created the SUPER Act program in response to groundwater
contamination resulting from leaking underground petroleum storage tanks. The primary
authority for the SUPER Act Program was given to the Florida Department of Environmental
Protection (FDEP), Bureau of Petroleum Storage Systems. FDEP oversees the clean-up
activities around petroleum facilities that have had a loss of petroleum product. The Florida
Department of Health's SUPER Act Program (per Chapter 376.3071(4)(g), Florida Statutes),
was given authority to provide field and laboratory services, toxicological risk assessments,
investigations of drinking water contamination complaints and education of the public.

As part of a cooperative agreement with FDEP, the Bureau of Water, Petroleum Surveillance Program
(SUPER Act) participates in their FLUWID (Florida Unique Well IDentification) program. The program's
goal is to simplify water well identification and exchange of information between state agencies
concerned with well construction data, well location and groundwater quality.

For more information visit: http://www.doh.state.fl.us/environment/water/petroleum/saindex.html

The program's goal is to simplify water well identification and exchange of information
between state agencies concerned with well construction data, well location and
groundwater quality. The program involves tagging wells with a unique alphanumeric
code called the FLUWID Well ID (Example: ABC1234). The water well identification
and exchange of information between state agencies concerned with well construction
data, well location and groundwater quality.

The table consists of data relating to all privately and publicly owned potable wells
investigated as part of the SUPER Act program. The table contains information about
the owners, addresses and geographic coordinates of the wells.

GPS Equipment used/data accuracy - Within the last several years, Real-time
Differential GPS receivers (RDGPS) have been used to provide a location
accuracy within five meters. However, some older data was collected using
non-RDGPS sources including digitized maps and handheld devices used for
recreational GPS. Refer to the "GPS_Status" field in each table to determine
if accuracy is RDGPS.

This data is provided 'as is' and its vertical positional accuracy
has not been verified by GeoPlan

A note about data scale:

Scale is an important factor in data usage. Certain scale datasets
are not suitable for some project, analysis, or modeling purposes.
Please be sure you are using the best available data.

1:24000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the
county level.
1:24000 data should NOT be used for high accuracy base mapping such
as property parcel boundaries.
1:100000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the
multi-county or regional level.
1:125000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the
regional or state level or larger.

Vector datasets with no defined scale or accuracy should be
considered suspect. Make sure you are familiar with your data
before using it for projects or analysis. Every effort has been
made to supply the user with data documentation. For additional
information, see the References section and the Data Source Contact
section of this documentation. For more information regarding
scale and accuracy, see our webpage at:

DATA LINEAGE SUMMARY:
GeoPlan downloaded this dataset from the Florida Department of Health in November of
2011. The data downloaded was in shapefile format from the following webpage:
http://www.doh.state.fl.us/environment/programs/ehgis/EhGisDownload.htm
The data was in the following geographical coordinate system:
WGS 1984 Datum, Units: Degrees. The following QA/QC process steps
were undertaken:
- Added field WELL_USE and joined values from previous layer based on on
WELL_TYPE. values that were null, 44, 51, 52, NO didn't join. This accounted for
only 32 records.
- Reprojected the data to FGDL Albers HPGN
- Removed 299 records due to erroneous/missing spatial information.
- All records were uppercased.
- Removed the empty PROPERTY_I field.
- Added a DESCRIPT based on WELL_BUSIN.
- Added a FGDLAQDATE field based on date GeoPlan acquired the data
  from the source.
- Renamed the dataset from WellPoint to superact_well_jul11
Process Date: 20111201
